North India - A fairy tale land come to life.
Northern India is the most popular area of India for foreign visitors. Delhi is the national capital and the typical port of arrival. North India contains may of the images the west is so familiar with; the Taj Mahal, the Golden Temple, the Pink City, Haridwar and Rishikesh, forts, palaces and temples, mountains, desert and river valleys, an innumerable collection of wild life - tigers, monkeys, elephants and camels. For the westerner this is the land of the fairy tale come to life.
The large amount of tourism is of both good and bad consequence for the traveler here. It provides for a huge variety of lodging and eating opportunities to make the visitor welcome. A wide variety of sights and experiences are easily accessible as well. On the down side there are also many places were a culture and business of taking advantage of tourist exists. Your fear here is not violence, but jacked up prices, multi-layer commission schemes and an abundance of people vying for your money.
