Meghalaya

Meghalaya is a small state in East India. It is on the Northern border of Bangladesh and surrounded by Assam on the other borders. This area is good for hiking and site seeing in a beautiful setting. Meghalaya is known for its impressive waterfalls, bio-diversity, caves and rugged forested land. Photographers should be in heaven here.

Getting to Meghalaya is possible through flight (via Assam), ail and bus. However East India is not as accessible as the rest of India generally speaking.

Travelers should seriously consider the safety of travel in this area. Do a search of local Meghalaya news. See below for more details.

Reports like this put me off: " ... militant outfits based on their side. They have stepped up action in pockets off Meghalaya and Tripura in the past two months," Mooshahary told reporters at the Manikgunj border ..."
