Digital Camera
Bringing a digital camera to India is very worthwhile. There are a million pictures to take at any given moment. When you are new to India it is hard to know exactly what to take a picture of. A digital camera with enough memory is the way to go. You can just snap away as much as you like, and when you have a spare moment, delete the ones that do not come out so well.
My Recommendations: Here is a camera I recommend. It is basically the upgraded version of the camera I use (Canon A80).
My Experience: For my first trip I brought a funky old Russian film camera called the Lomo LC-A. I shot roll after roll of film. When I got back I paid an absurd amount of money to develop it all. For the most part the pictures were bad. What seemed interested in the moment, turned out to not be much to look at.
The next two trips I took a digital, and I ended up with a much more impressive collection of photos hen I got back. Being able to review what you have while on the road is really important. Also Indian's love pictures, so being able to show them the pictures on the camera was really fun.
